Updated Calendar to include Frontiersmen SpringVous Announcement

Feb. 8, 2005: Songbook: Thanks to Andy Garrett and Chris Rhorer I have been able to add the 2002 Camp Song to the Songbook and now have a COMPLETE CLR SONGBOOK OF CAMPSONGS!

Site Saver Information Updated and current as of Feb. 4th, 2005.

Feb. 4, 2005: Guestbook: Will only display 50 postings at a time now. Added Navigation to move about. Must sign in to be able to view older postings beyond the most recent 50.

Feb. 1, 2005: New: Added 2005 Summer Camp/Properties Committee Needs/Wants List in PDF format. Soon I'll get the list on the site viewable in HTML. Look over the list if you want to donate or know of a possible donation source, please use the contact information in the document.

New: Added CLR Orienteering Course that Andy Garrett helped put together. It is also in PDF format. This document lays out 3 courses, covers requirements for both Second and First Class, and includes several maps. 29 markers total. Awesome resource!

Jan. 20, 2005: Updated Site Saver 2005 page with Camper fees and campership fees.

Jan. 19, 2005: A new set of Program Area pages for 2005. Thanks to Andy Garrett for gathering this information and updating it for 2005. Plus his help in modifying the code on those pages.

Jan. 4, 2005: Events added to the Calendar page.

Dec. 13, 2004: Site Saver 2005 updated with current information as of 12-13-04.

Dec. 9, 2004: RSS Feed available for the guestbook section. It will display the latest 5 entries. Links box also added.

Nov. 4, 2004: "Interactive" section renamed "CLR 2005". Site Saver page added. Random updates on navigation and links. A PDF of the Staff Application is now available online. At some point I'll get the online version setup. The Staff Application is the council staff application. In the past CLR has had their own staff application and we tend to be more strict and say the 15 year old category should really be 16 years old. And have moved some 18 year old positions under the 21 year category.

Nov. 3, 2004: Calendar Page Update.

Nov. 2, 2004: Updates to the Guestbook section: When you sign in it now takes you back to the main page and you have the options of Editing your profile, Entering a message, or Logging Out.

Oct. 27, 2004: I have hidden the email address of posters when you are not signed in. This should cut out the web crawlers from steeling email addresses and spamming us all. I have personally seen a sharp raise in spam. Just something to think about when you post on message boards and email addresses are listed by default.

Also, Andy pointed out that once signed in you don't have the option to leave another message, this was just a slip, and has been turned on for all. I tend to code with certain options turned on for me (the developer) and forgot to release it to all. Happens from time to time when my coding sessions are so limited for the site.

Anyway, October was a busy month for activities at camp. Is anyone aware of any upcoming events I can put on the calendar?

Oct. 1, 2004: Continuing my work on the Guestbook section. Edit Profile feature now active. Better compatibility between browsers across the guestbook area. Have a good weekend and send me your comments.

Sept. 30, 2004: New Calendar page. I have October's activites up for CLR. It's a busy month at CLR. Hope to keep this page updated with activities related to camp listed. If I get a chance I may throw up more details on each activity.

Sept. 21, 2004: Favorite Icon added for those that bookmark the CLR site. Would love to see other ideas for CLR icons. 16x16 pixels for the favicon and 32x32 pixels for desktop icons. If you make a gif file this works well and I can convert it to .ico

Sept. 20, 2004: In the guestbook I added the ability to have sticky items to where they are always listed at the top of the page. Added the annoucement about a free gift to the first 100 unique vistors that post on the message board. Also added a box which displays the number of remaining gifts. Worked on creating the edit profile page, this is still in develeopment.

Sept. 17, 2004: Added the countdown counter and visitor counter to the Guestbook page.

Sept. 16, 2004: Guestbook section saw a couple tweaks. Form validation when signing up and preventing double clicks on submitting a guestbook entry.

Sept. 15, 2004 PM: Worked on better navigation between pages and sections ex. "CLR > Explore > What's New?" Making each clickable except the current page. Next project will be to refresh the Program Area pages using the High Adventure page as a model.

Sept. 15, 2004 AM: Guestbook is operational. Any problems or feature suggestions please let me know.

Sept. 14, 2004: Added/reintroduced this page to either prove that something is being done on the website or nothing at all. Todays tasks include continued work on the guestbook section and adding the 1987 Camp Staff patch that I recently acquired.

Sept. 13, 2004: Work continued on the guestbook section. Certainly excited about getting this feature back on the site. It brought old friends together, scouts in touch with staff members, and created new friendships!

Updated the Camp Patches section to include the three 2004 patches.

Updated the Friends Pins section to include the 2004 Friends pin which was the friendship gift from the 2004 camp staff to attending scouts and leaders. I hope to fill the gap from 2000-2003 that I have let develop.

Updated the Songbook section with the 2004 Camp song The Nameless Cowboy. I am still missing copies of the 2000 and 2002 camp songs. I would appreciate a copy of these songs so that I may post them on the site. You can get in touch with me through the Contact Us page.

Sept. 2, 2004: Resumed rewriting the old guestbook which I had coded in ColdFusion a couple years ago to ASP and in the new website style. Added the new "Interactive" section which was a return from the 1999 CLR site. Created a teaser for the returning guestbook. This was written in javascript on the client side. With the base code created by a great friend Mark Harris, Character Animator extraordinaire! now residing in CA. His code inspired me to put it into a production environment and tweak it to fit my needs.

A little CLR web history: Website was created in the fall of 1996 when I returned to Miami University for my sophomore year. And who am I? Scott Tweedle By that time I had worked at CLR for four summers. I created the site from my Miami dorm room and posted the site to my personal account on the Miami servers. 1996 marked the first design/stage of the CLR website. By Nov-04-1998 the chieflogan.org domain name was purchased after letting visitors to the site submit address names, compiling, and voting on those names. ChiefLogan.org won! Alan Cook made a donation to cover the majority of the domain name registration. Since then I have renewed the name annually. Bill McKell donated web space on his company Horizon Telephone Company of Chillicothe, Ohio's web servers for the next 3-4 years. 1999 marked the second design and stage for the CLR website. In January of 2003, after the site laid dormant for a period of time, I used some design work of Mark Harris and developed the current site. Design/Stage Three.

So, here we are Fall of 2004 and after some prodding by Andy Garrent and Josh Radcliffe (more accurately, much prodding, but it was welcomed and encouraged) I am back at it again! There is a whole generation of CLR that probably doesn't remember the old websites and content, my current goals are to restore and update this content to the current site. In this section I will reintroduce the different sections and add some commentary. Some days it may look more like a work log listing different pages and sections touched. Your feedback and comments are welcomed. At this time use the Contact Us page to send feedback, comments, etc.
